Giving of Ourselves in Order to Receive

“We must give more in order to get more, It is the generous giving of ourselves that produce the generous harvest.”

Marden, Orison Swett

Today I was working online and supporting friends in a social network and it got me to thinking.  When we take the time to give and help others it comes back to us in multiples. We have so many things to give of ourselves. It isn’t all about money. Time, love, friendship, support, knowledge, encouragement and respect are just a few.

Sometimes we get in such a hurry and preoccupied with making things happen in our own lives that without even thinking we forget the people around us that have been there, giving of themselves.  By doing so they have forever changed our lives.  We grow by what others are giving. Our lives grow in a never ending cycle.

In our lives we all have low points. During those moments we sit and think to ourselves, “if someone would just do this it would help so much.” Sometimes we forget that a small simple act is a life changing act in another person’s life. We have to remember that at some point someone did us a small favor and it changed our life.

If we all did one small act of kindness a day even if it means you’ll be an extra 15 minutes at work or missing the first five minutes of our favorite TV show, we could start a change. A change for the good and maybe the person you help will see what you did and it will affect them in a positive way. Maybe it will lead them to help someone else and pretty soon we could change the world.

This only starts with giving ourselves instead of expecting to receive. The receiving comes when the giving has been done from the heart. No expectations other than to hope that someone else benefits in some way.  Brighten there day and make this world we live in seem just a little bit easier.

What do you have that you can give today?  Give truly, freely and from your heart and watch what comes back to you.

Excellent post!  When we give freely and truly from the heart, amazing things can happen.  : D

We reap what we sow for sure! I can personally testify that the more I give back the more I receive…ten fold really. We really never know who we will help with a small favor..With the advent and worldwide use of social media the ripple effect can be felt far and wide from what we do ..OR don’t do ;) Great food for thought!

I agree Anita. Thank you for reading my post. You really do get back what you give out. I have been through many things in my life and have learned alot about giving, being positive and doing right even when it isn’t easy. The smallest of things change transform someone elses life.

When I give of myself from a good place, I feel fulfilled. It’s really that simple. I don’t think about it all day, what a good deed I did, I just know I feel tremendous after doing so.

Suzanne so do I. I try not to think about what specific thing I do either. I just want to be kind to others because it makes me feel good.

How refreshing my friend. Don’t like what you’re receiving? Take inventory of what you’re giving. “Authentically” ~ Robin Tramble

It makes me feel so much better just to be nice and kind to others and make that who I am then have to make it something I have to work hard at.  Makes life so much better!

You are right. Sometimes it’s just the little things. It’s so good to be reminded to give to others- love others. Thanks for sharing!
